Materials & Care

Understanding your jewellery helps it last a lifetime. Learn about our materials and how to care for your pieces.

Our Materials

Our collection is thoughtfully crafted from quality materials. Each piece is chosen for its durability, beauty, and skin-friendliness so you can wear your jewellery every day with confidence.

Sterling Silver

925 sterling silver is one of the most popular precious metals for jewellery. It contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals for durability. It is hypoallergenic and ideal for everyday wear.

Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is a thick layer of 18k gold over a sterling silver base. It is a premium, affordable alternative to solid gold and much more durable than regular gold-plated jewellery.

Stainless Steel (PVD)

Our stainless steel pieces feature a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) gold coating — the most durable gold finish available. These pieces are waterproof, tarnish-resistant, and safe for sensitive skin.

Jewellery Care Guide

With the right care, your Ruby's Faith pieces will last for years. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your jewellery looking its best.

General Care Tips

Do:

  • Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or jewellery box to avoid scratching
  • Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or exercising where possible
  • Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing
  • Apply perfume and lotions before putting on your jewellery

Avoid:

  • Contact with harsh chemicals, cleaning products, or chlorine
  • Exposing pieces to prolonged direct sunlight
  • Wearing jewellery to bed to prevent damage and tangling
Caring for Sterling Silver

Sterling silver can tarnish over time due to air and moisture exposure. To minimise tarnishing, store your silver pieces in an airtight bag or box when not wearing them. To clean, use a silver polishing cloth or a small amount of mild soap with warm water, then dry thoroughly. Avoid silver dip solutions as they can be too harsh.

Caring for Gold Vermeil & Gold-Plated

Gold vermeil is more durable than standard gold plating but still requires care to maintain its lustre. Avoid exposure to water, sweat, perfume, and chemicals as these can wear away the gold layer over time. Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Store separately to prevent scratching.

Caring for Stainless Steel (PVD)

Our PVD-coated stainless steel pieces are the most durable in our range and are waterproof. You can wear them in the shower, pool, and ocean. Clean with mild soap and warm water, rinse well, and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive materials which can scratch the surface.
